Sporian Microsystems Wins Bronze Best of Sensors Expo Award in Sensors Category
The Sporian Microsystems AssetOverseer® SS series is a family of ultra low power 3-Axis accelerometers. The product family is designed for high G applications. The devices feature an analog signal output for each coordinate axis (x, y, and z). The active analog outputs provide a buffered voltage that does not require external amplification. Supply currents of less than 15µA, over all operating conditions, are unparalleled in the industry and make the SS series ideal for battery powered applications. The devices also feature a 2-5VDC operating range and a frequency response of 2-2000Hz. The supply pins feature over-voltage and reversed polarity protection as well as high frequency filtering which makes the AssetOverseer SS series resilient to supply switching noise. Signal and supply pins feature internal protection against ESD events. Electrical I/O is achieved through 0.1" (2.54 mm) spacing SMT leads. The sensors are available in +/-200G, +/-500G and +/-1000G ranges.
The AssetOverseer® SS series accelerometers. power consumption is an order of magnitude lower than the closest competitor. Devices with specs that appear close to the AssetOverseer SS series require input signal conditioning and output signal amplification that consumes considerable additional power. Integration of 3 axis sensing with conditioned I/O in a single device and the rugged, SMD board mountable packaging simplifies integration of the device into product designs.
There are numerous applications for this ultra low power, 3 axis accelerometer including: automation & process control, data logging, machinery monitoring, test & measurement, shipment monitoring, asset health monitoring, fragility testing/monitoring, predictive/condition based maintenance, aircraft landing impacts, railcar coupling impacts, and wireless sensor networks
The Sensors "Best of Sensors Expo" awards honored the most exciting new products that were on display at the Sensors Expo & Conference, which took place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. All entries were judged on the basis of potential impact, application, distinctiveness, timeliness, and availability.
This panel of judges were comprised of the magazine's editorial staff, members of the editorial advisory board, and industry experts including Melanie Martella, executive editor of Sensors; Deborah Lickness, John Deere; and Ed Ramsden, a member of Sensors' editorial advisory board and sensor industry veteran.
"The awards program recognizes cutting-edge solutions in the sensors marketplace," said Martella. "All of the nominations demonstrated exceptional innovation, integration, and ease-of-use. We believe this year's winners will be leaders in the sensors marketplace and offer our congratulations to the companies recognized."
